Kacy Edwards & Julie Scott
Co-Founders & Co-Executive Directors, Career Compass of Louisiana
In 2006, while working as high school educators in Baton Rouge, best friends Kacy Edwards and Julie Scott saw firsthand a troubling trend: too many students were graduating without a clear plan for their future. Fueled by a shared passion for helping students realize their full potential, they co-founded Career Compass of Louisiana—a nonprofit dedicated to guiding students toward post-secondary education and career success.
What began as a grassroots initiative between two educators has grown into a statewide movement that has impacted over 100,000 high school seniors and countless middle and high school students. Career Compass now operates across Louisiana, equipping students with the personalized support they need to chart a clear path beyond graduation.
Kacy, who spent nine years teaching at Tara High School, holds a bachelor’s degree in History (1997) and a master’s in Curriculum and Instruction (2005), both from Louisiana State University. Julie, who spent 8 years teaching at Tara High School, holds a bachelor's degree in social studies education from Southeastern University (1999).
Together, Kacy and Julie have received numerous accolades, including The Baton Rouge Business Report’s “Top 40 Under 40” recognition and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation’s prestigious “Angel Award” for their outstanding service to Louisiana’s youth.
As Co-Executive Directors, Kacy focuses on organizational and personnel development, while Julie leads strategic growth and operations. United by purpose and friendship, their leadership continues to inspire students, educators, and communities across Louisiana.
